Designing for a barrier island means working with nature to protect the home and our client from the unpredictable. This home was crafted not only to withstand nature’s extremes, but to do so beautifully. Grounded by durable masonry walls inspired by Tybee’s historic architecture, the structure resists coastal forces while providing comfort for our client. Integrated flood vents allow water to move freely through the lower level, equalizing pressure during storm events and enhancing the home’s long-term structural resilience.

Every design decision carries intention — hurricane-rated glazing to protect against high winds, corrosion-resistant materials to weather salt air, and an elevated mudroom offering both function and comfort after time spent along the shore. Beyond performance, this home reflects the collaborative spirit that defines Northworks. Through open dialogue and shared vision, we shaped a residence tailored entirely to its owners — resilient by design, refined in detail, and deeply personal in meaning.
